Marketing Specialist & Administrator at The Forest Conservation Burial Ground and Willow-Witt Ranch

We are seeking a Marketing Specialist & Administrator, who excels at content creation, brand storytelling, and strategic audience development. As the manager of our newsletter and social media channels, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance brand awareness, engage with our audience, and drive growth. You will oversee all aspects of social media management, including content creation, community management, and analytics tracking. You will play a key role in shaping the brand’s online presence and executing effective social media campaigns and paid advertising across various platforms, tracking content performance and adjusting as needed.

Our marketing specialist and administrator also assists with our hospitality and event functions; ensuring communications with guests is timely and effective and checking in guests. This position involves direct customer contact through tours and checking in guests. Occasional assistance with burial administration, paperwork, planning and coordination. 

This role requires a creative mindset, a deep understanding of social media trends, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to wear multiple hats within an organization. 

STATUS: Hourly, Non exempt

COMPENSATION: Starting at $23.00 – $25.00 / hour DOE 

SCHEDULE: 0.5-0.75 FTE on-site. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Occasional remote-days possible. 

Core accountabilities 

  • Develop and execute — concept, create, schedule — a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Willow-Witt Ranch and The Forest Conservation Burial Ground’s marketing objectives and target audiences
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor social media metrics to track the success of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and execute additional marketing initiatives including Google Ads (pay per click), print and partnership ads, influencer and DMO collaborations and SEO strategies. 
  • Administrative activities include monitoring and responding to emails and phone calls, assisting with sales, light bookkeeping, records management, and quality checks on electronic and paper records organization. Maintenance of databases, digital and paper files and monthly-to-quarterly newsletter production.  

Qualifications

    • Minimum two years experience managing brand social media accounts or other related experience. Administrative experience is a plus. 
    • Comfortable working with a wide variety of people and situations including farm stay guests, young children and grieving families. A background check will be required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar, and ability to adapt to different brand voices. 
    • Meticulous attention to detail at all levels of work, with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g.Canva) and video editing software (e.g., CapCut)
    • Proficiency with Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), WordPress, Microsoft Suite, online file storage (Google Workspace, Dropbox), QuickBooks, Square, CRM programs, and Mailchimp is desirable. 
    • Google Ads and SEO experience a plus. 
    • Familiarity with social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
    • Flexibility to adjust to changing demands; demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with little direct supervision.
    • The ability to learn new software (Plotbox Cemetery Management System) and operate independently with the support of procedure documents is mandatory.
    • Interest in sustainable farming, natural burial and environmental education. 
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • This position requires the physical ability to use stairs, operate typical office equipment such as phone, computers, and printers, sit at a desk for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting of up to 50 pounds. 
  • Our office is located within the owners living quarters (1900s farmhouse) at 5000 feet elevation. It can be cold (and a snowy drive) on winter days. We have three desks shared across multiple staff and weekly meetings are conducted in the living room. Conventional office this is not! 

Compensation

  • This is a 0.5-0.75 FTE on-site position starting at  $23.00 – $25.00 DOE. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Occasional remote-days negotiable.
  • Non-exempt employee, accrues overtime for any time worked beyond 40 hours in a work week. 
  • Reports Directly to the Business Manager and the Owner and also takes direction from Sexton/Cemetery Manager.

Farm Hand at The Forest Conservation Burial Ground and Willow-Witt Ranch

Willow-Witt Ranch is a 445-acre gem in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument near Ashland, Oregon. It is home to a small organic farm, campground, farm stay accommodations, restored wetlands, working forests, and The Forest Conservation Burial Ground.

We are seeking a Farm Hand with Animal Care experience, who will be responsible for day-to-day operations, upkeep, maintenance and repair of the farm including caring for the animals, garden, facilities, guest lodging and outdoor improvements, such as trails and fencing. This position also works to support our conservation burial ground by digging graves, attending burials, closing graves and general cemetery maintenance and care. The Farm Hand reports to Business Manager and Owner and is part of the Ranch Operations Team, which also includes Area Leads (Garden, Farm, Hospitality) and other Farm Hands.

STATUS: Hourly, Non exempt
COMPENSATION: Starting at $17.50/hr
SCHEDULE: Full Time evening and weekend hours required.
RESIDENCE: Summer-season lodging/camping available for Camp Host Position. $300 deducted monthly from
paychecks.

Core accountabilities
  • Daily chores and care of animals (feeding all animals, milking goats, collecting chicken and duck eggs)
  • Helps to care for animals on site, administering medications, keeping animal records, ear-tagging, hoof
    trimming, breeding, milking and milk sanitation tasks, coordinating with owner and veterinarian as needed.
  • Greet, welcome and orient guests, answer guests’ questions about the property, facilities, and nearby
    attractions.
  • Garden work includes weeding, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and processing produce, and keeping
    organic records.
  • Monitor premises for needed repairs
  • Maintenance and upkeep of facilities and machinery
  • Light forestry and landscape work (ie: trail work, burn pile assemblance and maintenance, fencing repair)
  • Cemetery work including grave digging and assisting with burials
  • On your feet thinking and problem solving, self directed work and attention to detail


Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to learn about and support the safe and responsible operation and maintenance of all utility systems at Willow-Witt Ranch including: water system, plumbing system, solar systems, appliances, wood burning stoves, waste management and disposal systems including trash, recycling and composting.
  • Helps the team maintain fire and first-aid safety systems including fire extinguishers, smoke alarms and
    wood stoves.
  • Helps maintain gates, fences and drainage systems.
  • Helps maintain and repair animal shelters, pastures, fences, pens and enclosures.
  • Helps maintain and repair garden beds, hose bibs, irrigation, and plumbing in the garden.
  • The Farm Hand will also support the operations of, and be paid by The Crest, an educational non-profit running programs at the ranch. Responsibilities include assisting with setup/breakdown, showing the students parts of the ranch, helping students with specified tasks like weeding or harvesting in the garden.
  • Collaborates with and supports Hospitality Lead regarding tasks for site rentals and special events.
  • Maintains firewood supply at all houses and wood sheds.

Requirements
  • Interest in sustainable farming and environmental education.
  • Comfortable working with a wide variety of people and situations including farm stay guests and young
    children. A background check will be required.
  • Farm experience is a plus, specifically animal care. (We have goats, chickens, ducks, livestock guard dogs,
    and barn cats)
  • Experience with gardening, animals, carpentry, plumbing, electrical or other facilities maintenance skills.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs and perform strenuous outdoor tasks related to ranch maintenance.
  • Willingness to do what it takes to perform emergency repairs when needed. Creativity and flexibility in
    finding and implementing solutions with facilities and maintenance challenges.
  • Flexibility to provide on-duty coverage on weekends and/or evenings on rotational basis or with other days
    off, as needed and arranged.
  • Ability to work in a rural and rustic ranch environment, outside in the elements year round.
  • Knowledge regarding environmental stewardship is a plus.
  • Computer literacy is a plus


Reports Directly to the Business Manager and the Owner
This is a full-time position starting at $17.50/hour. There is room to grow and move up within our organization.

  • This position requires weekend and evening work.
  • Begins as soon as possible and is year round.
  • Covered by Workers Compensation Insurance
  • Non-exempt employee, accrues overtime for any time worked beyond 40 hours in a work week.
